Seven injured as police fire on anti-Mugabe demonstators.(News)

PRETORIA: Police injured seven protestors with rubber bullets and briefly detained eight others as they dispersed a demonstration against visiting Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe at the Union Buildings here yesterday.

Police acted when about 300 activists from the Save Zimbabwe Now coalition, tried to force their way through security doors into the Union Buildings, where they believed Mugabe was meeting other regional leaders for a Southern African Development Community (SADC) summit on Zimbabwe.

In fact the SADC summit was taking place at the nearby Presidential Guest House.
